This Privacy Policy explains how ASoM collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when individuals visit our website, create accounts, participate in community activities, or use available services. It also describes the choices and rights individuals may have regarding their personal information.
Information We Collect
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) may collect personal information that individuals voluntarily provide when registering for an account, creating or updating a member profile, completing forms, communicating with the platform, or participating in community features. Depending on the service used, this information may include names, display names, email addresses, age or age-eligibility information, general location, interests, connection preferences, and information members choose to share.
When individuals visit or interact with ASoM, certain technical information may also be collected automatically through our website, hosting services, security tools, and related technologies. This may include Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser and device information, pages visited, access dates and times, cookies, and information used to maintain website functionality, monitor performance, and protect against unauthorized activity.
ASoM may also collect information associated with member participation, including profile updates, community posts, comments, messages, connection preferences, and communications submitted through available platform features. Information collected through optional services, including any future paid membership features, will depend on the services members choose to use. Where payments are offered, payment transactions may be processed by authorized third-party payment providers, and ASoM will disclose the relevant payment data practices before those services become available.

All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) uses personal information to operate, maintain, and improve its website, membership services, and community features. This includes creating and managing member accounts, reviewing membership applications, verifying age eligibility, facilitating appropriate community interactions, responding to inquiries, providing member support, and communicating important information regarding accounts, platform updates, policies, and available services.

Where permitted by applicable law and based on appropriate consent or other lawful grounds, ASoM may also provide information about community activities, new features, and optional services. If paid membership options become available, information associated with those services will be used to administer subscriptions, provide access to purchased features, address billing inquiries, and coordinate with authorized payment processors. Members will be informed of applicable terms and choices before enrolling in any paid service.
Information Sharing and Disclosure
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) respects the privacy of its members and does not sell personal information. ASoM may share limited personal information with trusted third-party service providers when reasonably necessary to operate, maintain, secure, and support the platform. These providers may include website hosting companies, email delivery services, technical support providers, security services, and payment processors where applicable. Such information is shared only for legitimate operational purposes and subject to appropriate privacy and security safeguards.
ASoM may disclose personal information when required by applicable law, a valid legal process, or an enforceable governmental request. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to investigate suspected fraud, threats, harassment, violations of community standards, or other activities that could endanger members, the platform, or the public. Any such disclosure will be evaluated in accordance with applicable legal requirements and the circumstances involved.
When members participate in community discussions, create profiles, post comments, or use connection features, certain information they choose to share may be visible to other members or audiences permitted by the platform’s privacy settings. Members should exercise care when sharing personal details. ASoM will seek to provide appropriate privacy controls and access restrictions, but information voluntarily disclosed to other users may be copied, saved, or shared by those recipients beyond ASoM’s direct control.
Data Security and Protection
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) recognizes the importance of protecting personal information and maintaining a secure environment for its members. ASoM seeks to implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the nature of the information collected and the services provided. These safeguards are intended to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, misuse, or loss of personal information.
Although ASoM works to protect personal information, no website, electronic communication, or data storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Members are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials, choosing strong passwords, and notifying ASoM promptly if they suspect unauthorized access to their accounts. ASoM encourages members to exercise caution when communicating online and sharing personal information with others.
If ASoM becomes aware of a suspected or confirmed security incident involving personal information, the platform will assess the circumstances, take appropriate steps to contain and address the incident, and determine whether notification to affected individuals or regulatory authorities is required under applicable law. ASoM may also review its security practices and implement additional protective measures when warranted.
Data Retention
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) retains personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, provide membership and community services, maintain platform security, resolve disputes, and comply with applicable legal or regulatory obligations. Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the nature of the member’s relationship with ASoM, and any applicable legal requirements.
When a member closes an account or requests deletion of personal information, ASoM will review and process the request in accordance with applicable law and its operational requirements. Certain information may need to be retained for legitimate purposes, including compliance with legal obligations, prevention of fraud or abuse, resolution of disputes, enforcement of community standards, and maintenance of necessary business records. Information that is no longer reasonably required will be deleted, anonymized, or otherwise securely disposed of, as appropriate.
Certain information may remain temporarily in secure backup systems, archived records, or technical logs after an account is closed or information is deleted from active systems. Such information will be retained only as reasonably necessary for legitimate operational, security, or legal purposes and will be removed or rendered inaccessible in accordance with applicable retention practices. ASoM will periodically review its information retention practices and make adjustments as necessary to reflect operational needs, technological developments, and applicable legal requirements.
Member Privacy Rights and Choices
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) respects the privacy rights of its members and recognizes the importance of providing individuals with reasonable choices regarding their personal information. Depending on applicable law and the nature of the information involved, members may have the right to request access to personal information maintained about them, seek correction of inaccurate or incomplete information, request deletion of eligible personal information, or obtain information about how their personal data is collected, used, and disclosed. Certain requests may be subject to verification, legal exceptions, or legitimate operational requirements.
Members who wish to exercise applicable privacy rights or request assistance concerning their personal information may contact ASoM at privacy@allshadesofmelanin.com. ASoM will review requests in accordance with applicable law and respond within any legally required timeframe. If a request cannot be fulfilled in whole or in part, ASoM may provide an explanation where appropriate and legally permitted.
Members may have choices regarding certain communications and privacy settings available through the ASoM platform. Where applicable, members may update their account information, adjust available profile visibility settings, and manage preferences for optional communications. Members may unsubscribe from promotional emails using the instructions provided in those messages, where available. However, ASoM may continue sending essential communications relating to account administration, membership decisions, security, policy changes, and other matters necessary to operate the platform. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) may use cookies and similar technologies to support the operation, security, and functionality of its website and membership services. Cookies are small data files that websites may store on a visitor’s device. Depending on the features and services in use, these technologies may help maintain login sessions, remember certain preferences, support account security, and improve the overall website experience. Some cookies may be necessary for essential website functions, while others may be associated with optional features or third-party services.
Certain third-party services integrated into the ASoM website may use cookies or similar technologies in connection with their functionality. These may include website hosting, security tools, embedded content, analytics services, or payment processing features, where applicable. Such technologies may be governed by the privacy practices of the respective service providers. ASoM will review the third-party services used on its platform and provide additional disclosures or choices where required by applicable law.

Children’s Privacy and Age Eligibility
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) is intended for mature adults and is not designed for use by children or individuals under the age of 25. General community membership, including participation in Meet Across the Spectrum (“MAtS”), is restricted to individuals who are at least 25 years of age. ASoM does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Individuals who do not meet the applicable minimum age requirements are not permitted to register for membership or participate in restricted community features.
ASoM also plans to offer an optional, subscription-based dating and romantic connection feature that will be available only to eligible adults who are at least 40 years of age. This additional age requirement is separate from the general community membership requirement of 25 years of age. Eligibility for general community membership does not automatically grant access to dating-specific services. Participation in any future dating membership will be subject to applicable eligibility requirements, separate enrollment, and any additional terms, privacy disclosures, and membership approval procedures established before the feature becomes available.
ASoM may require members to confirm their age and may implement additional age-verification procedures when appropriate to support compliance with its eligibility requirements. If ASoM becomes aware that an individual has registered or participated in restricted services without meeting the applicable minimum age requirement, the platform may suspend or terminate the account, restrict access to affected services, and review or delete associated personal information as appropriate and in accordance with applicable law. Members who become aware of a potentially underage account may report their concerns to ASoM for review.
Changes to This Privacy Policy and Contact Information
All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) may update or revise this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in its operations, membership services, technology, privacy practices, or applicable legal requirements. When changes are made, ASoM will update the effective date or last revised date displayed on this policy. Where required by applicable law, or when changes materially affect how personal information is collected, used, or disclosed, ASoM will provide additional notice to affected members through appropriate communication channels, which may include website announcements, account notifications, or email.
Members are encouraged to review this Privacy Policy periodically to remain informed about how ASoM handles personal information. The most current version of the policy will be made available through the ASoM website. Continued use of the platform following the effective date of an updated Privacy Policy will be subject to the revised policy, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Where additional consent is legally required for a particular change in data practices, ASoM will seek that consent before implementing the affected practice.
Members, website visitors, and other individuals who have questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or the handling of their personal information may contact All Shades of Melanin (“ASoM”) by email at privacy@allshadesofmelanin.com. ASoM will review privacy-related inquiries and respond as appropriate in accordance with applicable law and its operational procedures. Individuals submitting privacy requests should avoid including sensitive personal information, such as passwords, Social Security numbers, or financial account details, in their initial email communications.
